Welcome to Truth for Summer Sunday…
And Everyday …
God, the Everlasting, Eternal God, Forever God, Wants to be Known!
The Creator God, the One who made you, and who adores you, is the Everlasting, the Eternal, the Forever God who is, was, and will be…And, in the face of the constantly changing, always moving, irregular, unstable, wavering world we and our precious ones live in, the wonderful news is that His Presence and His Promises to you and to His Kingdom last forever!
The Truth is that He wants to be Known…He wants you to know Him…He wants your precious ones to Know Him…and how wonderful that He KNOWS you!
This amazing Everlasting, Eternal, Forever God began to show His intention toward humankind following Creation, and we know that sin and disobedience entered the perfectly beautiful world and the intimate relationship between God and mankind. But in His Sovereignty, He continued with His promise and His intention of relationship, because the Eternal, Everlasting, Forever God will not forsake His purpose, His plan, or His people.
Abraham, experienced the presence and relationship of His Creator, the Everlasting, Eternal, Promise-Keeper, EL-Olam, and it is in Genesis that this name of God is introduced. We are told that Abraham recognized the voice of His God and stepped out in faith toward His promises of a future. Abraham and his family experienced the fulfillment of a miraculous promise of God in the birth of his son Isaac. The Bible reveals their struggle in their waiting and their trusting, (and haven’t we all struggled in some kind of wait) …But, Abraham and Sarah experienced the faithfulness of their Promise-Keeper, the Eternal God who “kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what He had promised…at just the time He said it would…” (Gen. 21:1-2)
Their God, who existed before and beyond the fulfilled promises…and whose future promises would impact generations and Kingdoms to come, protected Abraham and his family as they dwelled as foreigners in a land which was naturally hostile. Abraham and Sarah found protection, provision and favor in the foreign land of Abimelech, at the Hand of their faithful God. As Abraham celebrated an agreement of peace with this foreign king, he worshipped the LORD, EL-Olam, the Everlasting, Eternal, and Forever God.
Abraham discovered that God, EL-Olam, kept His present promises; Abraham believed that God, EL-Olam, the Eternal God would keep His future promises.
I recently thought about how the patriarchs of our faith, those listed in Hebrew 11, surely knew the supreme importance of sharing with their own children the truth of their amazing God in contrast with the pagan images, which permeated the cultures of their life-times… the idols which crumbled …broke…melted…were diminished and destroyed; These patriarchal parents wanted to tell about their God who reigned victoriously, who was the Everlasting, the Eternal, the Forever God who wanted to be Known by His people, who was, is, and will be the Promise-Keeper!
And then, I thought of you as you seek opportunities, as you make opportunities to tell your own children and your grandchildren about your God, who is the Everlasting, Eternal, Forever, EL OLAM…who is the Promise-Keeper, the God who never changes, who was, who is, and who will always be!
So They Will Know
How wonderful that in this world, we have an Almighty God who has always been, is and will be the ultimate constant, the anchor and the foundation for our lives. This week, as we begin to focus on EL-Olam the Everlasting, Eternal, Forever God, we find such confidence and comfort in knowing and believing in His name, which helps us to understand and to know this part of God’s heart. And, as you become more aware of His eternal existence, you can celebrate with your precious ones and tell them about their Faithful, Everlasting, Eternal, Forever God, who is a Promise-Keeper…who keeps His promises forever, never breaking one, or forgetting one.
“Surely you know. Surely you have heard. The Lord is the God who lives forever. He created all the world. He does not become tired or need to rest. No one can understand how great his wisdom is.” Isaiah 40:28
“For the LORD is good and His love continues forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. “ Psalm 100:5
Today, on this Summer Sunday:
Tell your children and all those you love, the wonderful news…as we learn to trust God with our todays, we can believe Him and trust Him with all our tomorrows, for eternity. Remember faithful friend, every moment is a teaching opportunity…So They Will Know!
“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders.” Psalm 78:4
Sunday blessings to you and your precious ones!
