SIT FOR  AWHILE…AT HIS FEET

Whether you are a full nester, an empty nester, or someone in between…

“Cast on the LORD whatever he sends your way, and he will sustain you.  He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” Psalm 55:22

I suspect that your prayer list is like mine… (you know, the list of people you want to pray for, those precious people in your life, family members, friends, business associates, who need, or yearn for God’s intervention in their lives, or their loved ones’ lives)…That list is growing! How many times do we turn the page to continue writing and listing desperate needs in our prayer journals…I know…compassion feels like a fire burning in your soul because you love…you live to love, and you love to live, and to pray.  And, you feel heavy, because you are carrying so many needs…Yes, we remember that Jesus taught us that compassion comes with a cost, as compassion reaches into lives. Sometimes intersession feels heavy…But, that heaviness is what drives us to Sit for Awhile…At His Feet!

My friends, there is joy in the release and the relief of carrying these petitions, these requests, these dire needs, to the One who sits on the throne at the Right Hand of His Father…Our peace comes when we Sit, when we Kneel, at His Feet…and when we lay down those requests, our very long lists… At His Feet. Today, I experienced that rush of assurance as I emptied my momma heart at the Feet of Jesus…those concerns which turn to worries when I do not go immediately…

I remembered this morning that when compassion, concern, love… make their way into our hearts because of a need, an urgent request for prayer, even the long-term petitions for our precious ones, and we feel urgency and desperation to do something, to act, to ask questions, to speak concerns, or just to cry…

We must go, run quickly, go immediately, at that very moment to the One who is our Care-Giver, our Life-Giver, our Hope-Giver…and set our requests At His Feet.  When we hold on to them, we feel compelled to try to fix, repair, solve, restore, heal…answer…and the truth is that we cannot. That my friend, is much too heavy for us to bear…Worry and fear can take root in our hearts much too quickly.

We must trust Him with these petitions. Our job description as intercessors is to carry them, to transport them to the One, who already knows, who hears and who answers the cries of His people, of parents and of grands, of spouses, of friends… And, we must go quickly and immediately.

Today, I pray that we remember that as our prayer lists grow longer, so always do the PRAISE lists grow exponentially…

  • We praise You LORD that we can come to You, before You, into Your Presence; You invite us.
  • We praise You LORD that You receive our lists and requests; You are never taken by surprise.
  • We praise You LORD that You hear, You listen…You care…You love.
  • We praise You LORD that You always answer according to YOUR perfection, YOUR loving purpose.
  • We praise You LORD that we feel joy, relief, and peace in the very moment that we lay our prayers at Your Feet…Sitting in Your Presence.
  • We praise You Lord that we have total and complete confidence that as You receive them, we as  your praying children, have done our jobs for today,  answered the call…trusting in Your Sovereignty.
  • We praise You LORD, that You, then show us what to do…where to serve, how to love, and when and how to pray.  And there…we find great joy, great relief, and great peace.

When we are still, and Sit for Awhile with our Father, our intercessory lists will never become too heavy to bear when we go immediately, at the very moment to His Feet…Our job as praying friends, as praying moms and grands, is to GO and to GIVE them to Jesus, to trust Him and to believe that HE is the ANSWER!

The Perfect Time to Pray…Invite Your Children

This summer, is the perfect time to Sit for Awhile…At His Feet, bringing the prayers of your hearts and laying them before the Lord.  And, it is the perfect time to invite your children and grandchildren to join you as you pray for others.  Encourage them to start their prayer journals, writing their prayers or drawing pictures of those for whom they are praying.  Then, help them to see how God responds to them, to their faith-filled prayers, in His perfect timing, in His perfect Way!

“…With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18

I love doing life with you, my praying friends.  I pray for you as you continue in the LORD’s calling on your lives, praying with your hearts of compassion, and as you go and lay your requests AT HIS FEET, as you Sit for Awhile… I am confident that the LORD will whisper to each one of you, “My child, I have been waiting for you…Job well done…”

Abundant joy and blessings,
