The Sunflower Effect- Part II

Part Two

The King of Kings left His throne to walk and to live with man and to reveal the heart of His Father; lives were transformed and made into new creations.  Through His love and His compassion, He healed, He restored, He redeemed, and He set captives free.  The Bridegroom met His bride, the Church…and until His return, the Body of Christ waits…with faces lifted to the Son…shining Light into the darkness.

Jesus said, “And when I am lifted up from the earth,

I will draw everyone to myself.”

John 12:32

photo-6I continue to be amazed at the testimony of Creation as I encounter the phenomenon of nature, the sunflower. There is no doubt that there is a remarkable, if not miraculous quality to this specimen of God’s garden.  The sunflower presents itself strong and resilient to obstacles as it stands as a solitary stem.  However, upon further examination, the head of this magnificent flower actually consists of 1,000-2,000 individual flowers joined together by a receptacle base.  These tiny miniscule flowerets, when combined, create the dazzling and fiery bloom which for centuries has intrigued civilizations.

And once again, nature testifies to the Creator God and His identity of Absolute Truth.  The truth is that each one of these flowerets contributes to the brilliance and majesty of the sunflower.  Each floweret contributes to the survival of the flower, and each one contributes to the purpose.  Would one floweret opt to remove itself from the body of the flower, its own existence would be diminished, not to mention its brilliance.  But working collectively, nothing matches the magnitude of the sunflower’s presence in the world of Creation!

And Creation testifies…When a believer in Christ separates herself from the Body, she becomes vulnerable to advances and attacks from the enemy who prowls this earth to steal and destroy the abundance of promise and life that our Father God intends for His daughters.  Separation and isolation diminishes the shining Light that is emitted when the Body of Christ is unified in spirit. Just as the one solitary sunflower shines the light of 1,000-2,000 tiny flowers, a grove of 50 sunflowers might represent 100,000 flowerets; this is the biblical principle that the Body of Christ is comprised of all believers, each one called to a purpose to contribute to the function of the Body…as each floweret contributes to the brilliance of the sunflower.

Precious Daughters, do not allow yourselves to be separated or isolated from the Body of Christ. Remain in fellowship and relationship with one another, praying for one another and walking on life’s journey together.  We shine brighter; together we reflect more of the love of our Heavenly Father.  If God chose to address the details of the sunflower, how much more does He choose to address the beauty and the brilliance of the Body of Believers in His Son Jesus Christ. His provision, His protection, and His purposes are fulfilled through His Body, the Church…His Daughters of Truth…

Finally, sunflowers are quite notable for turning their faces toward the sun, the source of natural life, a behavior known as heliotropism…

May we Daughters of Truth be known for lifting our faces toward the source of eternal Life,

The Son of God…Jesus Christ!

Now you collectively are Christ’s body and individually you are members of it, each part severally and distinct, each with (her) own place and function.

 I Corinthians 12:27
